This will be the first of of several baby shower gift posts. I'm on a bit of a roll with sewing right now and happen to have several showers to make gifts for. This one is for my cousin Katie's baby Zeke. I made her (well him, I guess, since the gift is something he will use) 2 little blankets. Pretty much they are meant to be security blankets. The bigger of the two to use around the house, the smaller to take when out and about.

I bought this polka dot fabric last spring or summer intending to make these in blankets with binding to sell on
my etsy site. I decided they looked fine without biding and the time and effort to sew the binding was better spent on bigger blankets.

Next up I finally did some freezer paper stenciling which I first read about on Dana's amazing sewing blog
MADE. She wrote up some detailed instructions
here. I just drew freehand on the paper for both the picture and the words. I added some navy blue stitching to make the set look a little more matchy. My original plan was to repeat the outline of the boy, but it just didn't look right. The pants and onesie were store bought.

I folded up it all up and wrapped it in a bow.
SO cute! everytime I read your blog it just KILLS me that its name is "uncrafty." you're so clever and talented!
