My sister-in-law Julie has an amazing eye for decorating. The rooms in her house seriously look like the came straight from a magazine. Take this, for instance.

I haven't seen it yet, but
my sister Natalie took some pictures of the "finished project" for me.
Julie and my brother had their first baby last fall. She asked if I could help make a few nursery items using her vision of colors and style. First finished was the crib skirt (McCall's pattern
4855).

I didn't get a good shot of it on its own, but you get the basic idea here.

The other item was a bumper. I made it reversible so she can have alternating colors or just the print, depending on her mood.

The inside was just a basic bumper from IKEA. I had to cut the length a little. No pattern needed, jest the measurement of the IKEA bumper. I really liked how it turned out.

I liked making something where I didn't have to choose the colors or style. I'm not so great at that. Now I just need to finish the blanket and surprise gift I have for them.
Adorable room! Love the dots!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment on my blog! I was just checking out both of your blogs and I LOVE them! Fabulous for sure! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great bedroom set, you did such a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering how to do a bumper for Cole's room, whether to buy the foam stuff or what not. I'll have to check out Ikea's bumpers and cover them up! Thanks for posting.
